3.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Idea, but..., June 22, 2011

First, the lack of enthusiasm for this product has nothing to do with it's quality. Not only are Shirataki products by "Miracle Noodle" good quality but an excellent product if you are counting carbs or calories. My only problem is with the form of the "Rice"... it tastes and cooks up just fine but it really isn't a substitution for rice, it's texture and size are more akin to small pasta balls the size of peppercorns... (think Spetzle or Acini de Pepe) ((sp?))...

Actually, the first thing I thought about when I cooked up my first batch was that they were slightly smaller versions of the tanslucent "Bubbles" that people seem to like to put in their iced tea and coffee drinks nowadays... (which in turn, remind me of little round gummy candies with no taste.)

Shirataki noodles are an EXCELLENT no-cal/no-carb substitute for pasta... but if you are thinking that you're going to get anything like a "rice" substitute... I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Style, May 6, 2011

I absolutely love this product! I get the angel hair variety, too, but the rice-style is my favorite. It is so versatile and easy to use. I just rinse it for a couple of minutes in a strainer under cold running water and put them straight into a skillet of browned minced turkey or chicken that's been pre-seasoned. I cook it all together long enough for the flavors to mingle and any extra fluid to be cooked off it...delicious! I only wish it didn't sell out as fast as it does and that it was more available than it is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent if you know how to cook it! Great for Arroz con Pollo, July 27, 2011

I found these to be great if you know how to prepare them. First get a strainer and wash them with cold water, let the cold water run and run until must of the smell is gone.
I prepare a Puerto Rican "arroz con pollo" (rice with chicken) dish using these and it comes out very good almost as good as the real thing ;)
Here is the recipe,
2 bags Miracle rice(1 bag per person)
1 pack, chicken tights,4-6 pieces(no skin no bones)(Chicken breast drys out)
1/2 cup cut onions
Oregano powder 1/4 tsp
Lemon pepper or regular pepper (about 1/4 tsp)
1-2 chopped garlic or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
olive oil (1 tablespoon)(optional)
Red wine vinegar (or any other kind) 1 teaspoon
For color;use one envelope of Cilantro-Achiote Sazon, Goya Sazon Cilantro-Achiote Seasoning
or 1/2 cup tomato... Read more

They are so wide and delicious with a simple drunken noodle recipe that you can find at "A Taste of Thai" website. Also if you love Phad Thai, you'll like these wide noodles with it too, whether you make form scratch or use ready made Phad Thai seasonings. Hey, if you like rice, rice noodles, and pasta dishes you'll love these; glad I got a whole case of 6. We use only half a box at a time so it's a great purchase!

I needed some wide rice noodles to make Hawaiian Style Chow Fun. These noodles were perfect. The recipe on the box is also great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy about Chow Fun!, February 7, 2012

My whole family--especially the eight-year-old--loves these wide rice noodles (chow fun). They are not easy to find outside of a Chinese market, so buying in bulk is a good idea. I love the mouth-feel of rice noodles anyway, and wide is just that much more fun. Plus, they are not flimsy (like rice vermicelli), so are easy to stir-fry. I use a simple Cantonese style, with some soy sauce, some oyster sauce, and a little beef stock. Be sure to use plenty of oil when you stir-fry, as the noodles do absorb it. But your dish will be so beautiful, it's so worth it. Lastly, if you are on a no-gluten diet, you are gonna go ga-ga over these!

The directions on the package for presoaking are good--but instead of warm tap water (which has more lead in it from the pipes!) use cold water and warm it in the microwave. Be sure your noodle container is large enough so that the noodles won't stick to each other too much (and you will have to stir from time to time--again, to keep them from... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Satisfying Snack in Minutes!, February 22, 2011

Maruchan Instant Lunch Ramen Noodles with Vegetables provides a hot, satisfying snack in 3 minutes! Each unit comes in it's own container. Just add boiling water to dry contents inside, re-close lid and 3 minutes later you have a hot soup ready to eat!

This product is not the healthiest thing you might find yourself snacking on, but is certainly not the worst either. The worst thing in this cup of soup is the 59% sodium, which is actually quite a lot of sodium compared to most packaged foods. More sodium, even, than packaged macaroni & cheese, which packs a whole lotta sodium - 41%!

So this isn't the kind of thing you want to eat all the time, and seriously do not expect this item to have enough nutrients to keep a body healthy, by eating it as your only item for meals. I recommend this as a snack item only, and only a few times a week.

As a snack-item only, this soup is very tasty and satisfying - and simple enough to make that anyone able to... Read more

Quick easy snack. A bit salty, however still pretty good. Good price and fast delivery!

I previously purchased the roast beef flavor and liked it better.
