I am a ramen lover and have tried hundreds of varieties over the years, including my time in Japan, the land of endless ramen varieties. Nong Shim (Korean) is a long-time favorite and among the top 3 makers on my list. Their noodles are heartier and more delicious than everybody else's, mostly because they use better ingredients. The texture is firmer and more elastic, even retaining their chewy mouth-feel over time, unlike other noodles that quickly become mushy. If you're used to bargain basement brands like the NISSIN TOP RAMEN, do yourself a favor and try a Nong Shim.

Among the higher quality ingredients that Nong Shim puts in here are ginger and shrimp extracts, beef and pork bone stock, and beef tallow. Beef tallow is the same stuff that makes McDonald's french fries so tasty.

5.0 out of 5 stars yummy!, September 3, 2008

i'm surprised reading the 2 reviews saying there's no kimchi but the box of kimchi noodles i ordered does have bits of kimchi but they're small and few. I've tried quite a number of instant noodles but this is the ONLY one that i actually would finish the broth. the other brands i just ate the noodles.

Love the al dente texture and wonderful soup mix. Not too spicy, do not expect to find pieces of kimchi though, just the wonderful flavor. Good portion. Definitely beats other brands of "instant noodles".

These are very easy to prepare and taste pretty good. You get enough (barely) and the texture of the noodles is great. One cup (serving) is only 200 calories (5 from fat) which is low fat as claimed. Only 480 mg of sodium (20%) which isn't bad for this type of dish. 43g carbs and 7g protein. It does have a teriyaki flavor and while not great teriyaki, it's not bad at all and probably better than average for microwavable "instant" style foods.

Not my favorite McDougall's meal, but not bad and I will probably order again as the noodles are very good for this type product.

If you like cup a soup and want something a little different, then I would suggest these. They are a little sweet, but still good. Watch when cooking they easily overflow. I placed them in a microwave bowl then no worries of the overflow.

I was looking for noodles that were low in calorie with an ingredient list I could read. On top of it all, these taste great! Some people may comment that the portion is small - and I would have to agree. But for me it was a perfect opportunity to bulk up my meal with lean protein (chicken or shrimp) and fresh veggies.

5.0 out of 5 stars YUM YUM!, October 30, 2010

This review is from: Dr. McDougall's Right Foods Asian Entree, Thai Peanut Noodle, 1.9-Ounce Packages (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I've been eating the McDougall Right Foods for a few years now, and this is by far the best. It takes exactly the way the name suggests. It tastes great with cooked vegetables such as broccoli and cauliflower, and it is very easy to make. The only problem I have with it is that the noodles aren't thick enough for me, but I think one time I let them sit in the microwave a little longer and they became thick. Other than that, I'd recommend this product to anyone who wants to eat healthy and who enjoys noodles and peanut flavor.

skip the Pad Thai. go for this.
edit: this soup has moved up to the #6 spot when I typed in Dr. McDougall today. I'm glad, because I want to order this for a while, and don't want this soup to be seen as unprofitable by Right Foods (Dr. McDougall).

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites, March 26, 2011
This review is from: Dr. McDougall's Right Foods Asian Entree, Thai Peanut Noodle, 1.9-Ounce Packages (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I love the McDougall Asian Entrées and although I haven't tried all of them this one is amazing. It has a really peanutty flavor that you wouldn't expect in a product containing only 3 grams of fat per serving. I would imagine these would make a great dinner added to a pound of mixed stir-fry vegetables...I am buying a case now to test just that! The peanut flavor is strong enough that I bet it'd distribute among a fair amount of vegetables or tofu when added so you wouldn't get very saucy noodles and dry veggies.

I recommend this product. The best-tasting peanut noodle you'll be able to find for only 3 grams of fat.
